Your Impact: Jacobs is currently seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to join our energetic team in the Winchester, VA area. In this position you'll be a part of a team that maintains and supports our customer's facility by ensuring that the telecommunications systems are fully functional and available to support mission requirements. This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses. Responsibilities: Work as the Telecommunications Specialist responsible for availability, performance and testing of operational mission capabilities under varying conditions including various IT and RF based voice, video, data systems, networks, services and information feeds. Operate, maintain, test, analyze, troubleshoot and restore communications systems and services. Coordinate availability, performance and/or restoration efforts with 3rd party services providers as required. Apply knowledge, training, and expertise to determine appropriate operational course of action and best solution set to implement under varying events and conditions, brief customer on operational status. Make tactical decisions and take decisive action in stressed or degraded environments to ensure mission objectives are met. Manage dynamic taskings and prioritize workload to meet customer expectations and demand level under changing situational conditions. Identify and recommend process improvements, efficiency gains and innovative approaches to operations and service delivery to increase customer value. Work with customer to determine operational requirements for future system capabilities; support the design, planning and testing of new systems to meet customer needs; ensure new systems are properly installed and brought on-line for operational use; coordinate installation team efforts to ensure schedules are met and activities are not disruptive to ongoing operations. Ensure proper configuration and change management control are applied and system documentation is current. Position requires some travel or response to alternate locations in support of evolving customer requirements or surge demand. Successful candidate will receive highly specialized training on unique job responsibilities. Here's What You'll Need: Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses. Two (2) years of college in an IT or telecommunications related field of study and three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience for a total of five (5) years. Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for one (1) year of the education or experience requirement Operational work experience in DOD or Intelligence Community communications technology programs. CompTIA IT Security+ Certification, or must be able to obtain within 6 months Tier II, Hardware/Field Engineer, Network Admin or Systems Admin experience Experience with PC/LAN level maintenance, such as component replacement, cabling, switch installation, replacement of peripheral equipment. Knowledge and experience of lifecycle sustainment. Preferred: B.S degree in an IT or telecommunications major and three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience for a total of five (7) years. Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for one (1) year of the education or experience requirement 5-10 years' experience in RF systems including HF, VHF, UHF, EHF, AEHF Experience with cryptographic systems, radio systems, video teleconferencing systems, satellite systems, network architecture and/or inside cable plant distribution systems. Commercial or military certificates of training in RF systems CompTIA A+, Net+ certification Experience with Microsoft software and tools, including Windows 10 and SharePoint portal. Instructor experience Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move items between 50-75lbs and should be able to lift in accordance with 2 people lift up 125-150lbs. Work Environment: General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers. Equipment & Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment. Attendance: Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
