Product Managers work with Avalaras product teams, engineering teams, and business leaders to define the future direction and scope for our tax return and compliance services. In this role, you will contribute to Avalaras tax and compliance automation strategy and day-to-day product management activities focused on delivering AI/ML experiments and tools to the outside world.

What youll do

  • Take it out of the lab: work with internal stakeholders and customer partners to test experiments in the outside world
  • Be the glue that connects AI/ML product team initiatives with go-to-market and sales stakeholders
  • Work with prospective customers and customer-facing teams to understand their needs
  • Become an expert in your products space
  • Inform a clear and compelling go-to-market strategy that synthesizes customer needs, market dynamics, and business requirements
  • Participate in creating prioritized roadmaps that deliver customer value
  • Define metrics that measure the success of products, and use these metrics to drive business outcomes
  • Build alignment and collaborate effectively with other internal stakeholders to ensure effective customer-facing launches and a great end-to-end customer experience

What youll bring to the role

  • 8+ years overall professional career experience, with a mix of startup and big company perspectives
  • 3+ years experience bringing experiments, betas, and products to market
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, the Product Owner role, and commonly used tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Experience with customer journey maps to define end-to-end customer experiences
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with experience conducting research, small-group briefings, and demos
  • Team player able to drive results through influence and enthusiasm
  • Demonstrated experience with cross-functional teams, including partnering with sales
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field (accounting, business, law, marketing, computer science)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience engaging customers for experiments or beta programs
  • Familiarity with compliance automation products, ERP, eCommerce platforms, or other financial analytics systems
  • Familiarity with tax compliance concepts (eg sales tax returns)
  • Experience working with partners and 3rd party developers
