One of the world s fastest growing data centre providers which owns, designs, builds and operates the countries most efficient and flexible data centres is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. As part of the Engineering Technical Team the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring all Company mechanical systems are operating correctly within their design and are optimised to ensure highest levels of efficiency and reliability. You will ensure all best practices and standards are delivered, and work with the LSO FM Team to ensure any issues are quickly resolved to minimise operational impact. As part of the role, you will author and deploy a set of Mechanical Safety Rules for use across the Data Centre estate. You will use your excellent organisational skills to ensure services are delivered to the highest standard.

Main Tasks and Key Role Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineer - Data Centre Infrastructure - Cooling Systems

> Be the overall technical authority for all Company data centres cooling and supporting mechanical infrastructure.

> Provide 2nd/3rd level escalation for mechanical/controls issues. P1/P2 incidents out of hours.

> Provide SOP/EOP development, including sign off on any mechanical SOP/EOP drafts.

> Assist with the commissioning of existing upgrades and supporting mechanical elements where required.

> Work with the M&E lead engineer continually optimise mechanical systems to provide high levels of efficiency and reliability.

> Provide mitigation to remove, where possible, the majority of the "Human Error" aspects from all mechanical operations. Whether it is a physical optimisation to equipment, robust technical training, or clear procedure documentation. This is to be driven with the LSO technical lead for each facility.

> Provide technical input on all mechanical works and projects.

> Optimise the maintenance offerings to ensure all manufacturers and best practises are followed.

> Ensure technical excellence on all mechanical systems and ensure all engineering best practices are being followed.

> Organise and witness mechanical Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for New Build items. This is to be parallel with the commissioning undertaken by the commissioning manager and M&E team

> Collaborate with the Projects Department on facility Integrated Systems Testing (IST).

> Understand and owning each facilities mechanical capacity planning.

> Input into commissioning test scripts for mechanical elements for FATs, SATS and IST.

> Assist the Technical Team to ensure compliance with ISO Security, Fire and Health & Safety related policies and procedures.

Essential Skills and Key Experience

Mechanical Engineer - Data Centre Infrastructure - Cooling Systems

# Detailed technical knowledge of the type of large-scale mechanical systems installed at Data Centres. This includes complex DX, Chilled Water, HVAC and related mechanical systems, and BMS/PMS and controls systems. You will show a demonstrable understanding of various redundancy topologies of such infrastructure.

# Extensive mechanical engineering, maintenance and commissioning experience in Data Centre or other mission critical sector is essential

# Proven track record of Data Centre cooling optimisation and efficiency improvements

# You will have been a team leader or manager in a multi-megawatt data centre operator and have experience working for Blue Chip Multinational Enterprises - either directly or in a customer/supplier relationship.

# Demonstrable ability to work to short, medium and long-term deadlines, as well as being able to react quickly and change priorities to meet demands.

# Good knowledge of regulatory compliance and health and safety within the Data Centre environment.

# Self-motivated individual who is resourceful, with the ability to build working relationships quickly and effectively. Above all, you will be a great communicator with excellent organisational, influencing and strong interpersonal skills.

# Pro-active, responsive - able to prioritise and deal with intense moments of high activity using excellent analytical/problem solving skills.

# Comfortable working through ambiguity, bringing clarity and control in a growing and dynamic environment.
