The U.S. government is investing approximately $400B over the next 20 years to modernize our Nuclear Strategic Deterrent capabilities-including major recapitalization of our Nuclear Triad. These are complex and expensive programs that must be delivered in a period of greater strategic competition.

MITRE is accelerating Conventional and Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Weapon Systems integration to maximize Nuclear Deterrence and we need your help. We are driving Weapon Systems integration by leveraging Digital Engineering & prototyping to analyze alternatives and drive requirements for NC3 interfaces, converged communications infrastructure, and cyber operations.

This is an opportunity for an early career engineer who is highly motivated, innovative, and proactive.

The ideal candidate for this position will work a wide variety of challenging systems resiliency, security, and cybersecurity activities in direct support of programs and will have opportunities to advance the science of resilient systems engineering for security and other loss concerned needs.

Day to day responsibilities:

* Analyze missions and systems for potential loss conditions and unacceptable loss consequences and propose mitigation approaches
* Research and develop unique, cutting-edge technical capabilities and processes for understanding, assessing, and analyzing system and technology resilience and security
* Conduct systems security analysis and assessments, including identifying risk criticalities and handling options, to inform decision making
* Conduct the development of systems security and cybersecurity strategy development, system testing and evaluation, and verification and validation efforts
* Analyze system requirements, software, hardware, supply chain, and integration approaches using analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities and system architecture, design, and implementation flaws
* Develop systems security engineering attributes within complex model-based system engineering products in direct support of programs

Basic Qualifications:

* Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
* Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Skills:

* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar field
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
* Experience in two of the following areas:
* Requirement's analysis, definition, and refinement
* Reverse engineering
* Malware analysis
* Application of Information Security Principals
* Blue and Red team analysis
* Penetration testing and system attack
* Assessment of security risk
* Big data and analytics, including application of Map Reduce programming model and analytics technologies such as Hadoop, Hive and Pig

* Hands on proficiency using emerging cyber technologies
* Project-based team work experience
* Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word
* Must have demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, PC, presentation, and communications skills

Desired Skills:

* Familiarity with embedded systems and RF concepts.
* Familiarity with defensive cyberspace operations.
* Understanding of terrestrial, airborne and satellite communication systems and their effects on cryptographic algorithm and mode selection.
* Awareness of DoD acquisition and rapid prototype development processes and cyber security, survivability, and resiliency requirements.
