Telecommunications Administrator

The Telecommunications Administrator maintains the company's in-house IP telephony voice communication environment, its associated network connections, and component hardware. The Administrator assists with all projects for Voice over IP (VoIP) initiatives and configuring and optimizing all VoIP/IP-PBX telephone systems and services, both internally and those integrated with Internet-based services. The Telecommunications Administrator supports internal team members and maintains SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for all organizational IP telephony applications for all call queue related departments.RESPONSIBILITIES:Supports VoIP infrastructure and its associated software, including IP-PBXs, SIP, call management systems, voice mail, and interactive voice response.Provisions new users, extensions, and phones. Administers call groups. Edits phone trees and performs other related tasks.Collaborates with telecommunications and network engineers to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house or outsourced voice, data, video, and wireless network services.Deploys, and utilizes appropriate tools for reporting and routing of IP telephony traffic on the network.Collaborates with telecommunications engineers and systems administrators for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc.Remains current on new transport protocols, products, and standards in support of VoIP systems development and equipment procurement.Integrates IP telephony systems with enterprise LANs, WANs, wireless LANs, and other Internet-based services and protocols.Administers the implementation of new VoIP products or services. Coordinates as necessary with vendors who may assist with implementations.Collaborates with help desk to resolve trouble tickets and mitigate end-user issues with VoIP hardware and/or applications.Assists with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all voice related server hardware, software, and communication links and circuits.Assists with the installation planning and maintenance of network cabling, in data center and branch communications closets.Performs telephony audits including billing and usage as necessary.Monitors and identifies capacity and performance issues for VoIP traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telephony systems.As required, will serve as a member of project teams for implementation of solutions consistent with Information Technology and Business Unit strategies and plans.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Two-year degree in an information technology field preferred.Two years' telephony system administration in an organization with 500+ employees and multiple locations required.Networking or Voice related certification preferred.
