Technical Program Manager, Instagram Core Media Infrastructure

Instagram is looking for a Technical Program Manager to help develop a robust media platform that allows Instagram product teams to build high-quality image and video experiences for our users. As a Technical Program Manager on Core Media Infra, you will work with various teams to assess product needs and drive evolution of the platform, while ensuring the overall performance, reliability and efficiency of the platform. In this capacity, you will also collaborate with Facebook Infrastructure teams on storage and compute efficiency initiatives to help Instagram bring new products to market and scale to the next 1 billion+ users. Lastly, you will drive infrastructure Organizationernization programs in the media stack, efficiently balancing new product needs with long-term investments in building scalable infrastructure.

The right candidate will be an excellent communicator, passionate building scalable services, comfortable in a flat, fast moving organization, excited to innovate on existing solutions, and focused squarely on impacting the Instagram product and business.

Technical Program Manager, Instagram Core Media Infrastructure Responsibilities

Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team

Build subject matter expertise in your area and stay up-to-date on technological developments

Develop and manage cross-functional programs, facilitating relationships across Instagram and Facebook to identify risks, manage dependencies and optimize resources between media infra groups

Work with Product and Engineering to define your teams roadmap and execution strategy

Drive internal process improvements across teams, remove roadblocks, and deliver on high-impact projects with a focus on efficiency, performance, and quality

Assess business impact, prioritize initiatives and drive accountability in a fast-paced environment through project planning and strong interpersonal skills

Develop robust engineering accountability measurements, maintaining high quality engineering work

Drive accountability and ownership in a fast paced environment across a dynamic team through project planning and interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience

Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery

Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope

Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership

Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products

Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience

Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems

Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with external facing production systems for high traffic websites and services

Technical knowledge and/or experience in media (images/video) infrastructure, encoding, and quality
