Manages switchboard staff and telecommunication systems. Writes policies and procedures for the effective operations of the Communications Center. Resolves telecommunications issues and assists in the analysis of new and existing systems.1. Supervises the Communications Center staff to ensure work is completed. Hires, trains, counsels, directs, and evaluates personnel. Manages scheduling to insure a fully staffed switchboard and complete payroll.2. Ensures the full functioning of all equipment including telephone switchboard system, radio paging systems, and emergency notification systems.3. Oversees and writes operating policies and procedures. Creates and manages operational policy for Physician patient service after hours. Trains staff for after-hours answering services and on-call triage. Manages, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains the PC server cluster. Coordinates all system upgrades and database management.4. Manages paging system operations to ensure the full functionality of emergency notification system. Builds and manages paging software matrixes. Troubleshoots paging system problems. Programs and issues pagers.5. Provides training to new employees, customer service training, and institutional information system training.6. Creates management reports and statistical analysis of traffic flow, work completion, call volumes, etc. for switchboard operational and employee performance.7. Compiles and reviews communication systems records to identify trends or problems, appropriate usage, and unauthorized use.8. Reviews vendor proposals, participates in the selection process, and coordinates equipment installation.Performs other duties as required or assigned.**Minimum Qualifications:**+ Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience working in telecommunications, or the equivalent in experience required.+ Excellent communication, computer and leadership skills required.+ Previous experience working in a health care environment preferred.
