JMA is seeking a 5G Solution Architect for our federal and government business. Working with federal prime contractors, teaming partners and mobile network operators, the position will lead in the design and organization of 5G mobile communication technology solutions. Responsibilities are centered on matching 5G technology components and capabilities to the customer's business, technical, operational, functional and system requirements for private and commercial systems. The solution architect will understand and pull from multiple stakeholders and technology providers to craft customer specific solutions. Solutions are then formulated, documented and integrated into written proposals and live presentations in a language that is compelling to technical and executive (including non-technical) audiences. Solution elements will include 5G and IT networking technology details, risks, capabilities, scope, costs, implementation time and resources for the proposed solution.
Position can be based in Liverpool, NY, Chicago, IL, Boulder, CO, Richmond, VA, Austin, TX or Allen, TX
Duties Will Include
Responsible for the establishment of 5G architectures and solutions for Department of Defense, federal government department use or funded projects with federal prime system integrators and partners
Develop implementation plans and projects for the adoption of 5G RAN architecture and standards for complex and diverse wireless communication systems
Managing activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation
Researching and analyzing technology selection, including non-JMA, for any number of diverse use cases and solution requirements within DoD or US government projects
Engaging with customer and prime contractors on assessing, analyzing and documenting the client's business and operational requirements
Formulating creative and unique solutions leveraging the capabilities of 5G technologies from JMA and our ecosystem partners
Setting up and participating in collaboration teams within cross functional stakeholders both inside JMA and with partner companies or primes
If necessary, propose and participate in solution prototyping and proof of concepts
Supporting project, program or systems management team post award to ensure proper implementation or refinement of solution
Documenting requirements, risks, costs, design, dependencies and implementation overview for integration to proposals, statements of work and sub-contracts
Consider both short and long-term perspectives and inevitable technology shifts or evolution, understanding that the solution might need to scale and adapt to possible changes in the future
Reviews business context for solutions to client/customer challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include outside technology or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution
Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of 5G standards and technology
Champions a structured approach to evolving 5G systems design and implementation
Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including cross functional departmental activities and required product portfolios for market driven 5G systems and solutions
Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines, JMA technology advantages and high quality for customer satisfaction
Influences changes to standards or product development when necessary.
Assists proposal teams on the costs and timing of financial spend for the proposed solution, including flexibility to make design changes to meet competitive or optimal cost-benefit targets or constraints
Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, partner solutions, or teaming options to increase probability of customer selection based on business requirements, functionality, and total cost of ownership.
Provides analysis of proposed solutions to government acquisition, US 5G leadership initiatives and security compliance requirements
Collaborate with JMA functional departments (research and development, product management, logistics, supply chain, system and field engineering, finance, operations and support) to incorporate both current and planned JMA 5G technologies, products and solutions into proposals.
Participate and assist in the preparation of solution whitepapers and proposals
Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to complex 5G solutions designs and proposals
This position will report directly to JMA's federal government business leadership.
Support the development and implementation of programs and architectures aligned with emerging US 5G leadership and supply chain security
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications or equivalent education or work experience
Minimum of 10 - 12 years of experience related to either IT, mobile or telecommunications engineering, product management, systems engineering or solution architecture
Experience with working on federal government projects or system implementation as prime or sub contractor
Deep knowledge of current 3GPP related technologies and systems
Technically creative and open-minded
Demonstrated capacity for lifetime learning in areas of complex technology, systems and solutions
Excellent oral and written communication for both technical and C-level audiences
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under indirect supervision
Broad understanding of information technology topics
Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability
Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills
Flexible in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities
Travel required to support pre-sales and teaming meetings with customers, partners and prime contractors. Expected to be 20%
Knowledgeable of federal government contract and acquisition regulations desired
Self-motivated individual that enjoys all phases and across multiple complex and technical projects.
US citizen required, current or prior security clearance a plus
Proficient with MS Office suite
