Software Engineer - Mobile Robotics - Somerset - Permanent - Salary 40-50,000 per annum (depending on experience), plus excellent benefits.

Are you an experienced Software Engineer/ Developer, with a background or interest in mobile robotics? If so, this vacancy could be a really exciting opportunity for you.

The Software Engineer will work in an R&D department developing autonomous mobile robotic systems, using cameras and Lidars along with other sensors to enable the robot navigation. This will require a good grasp of mathematical concepts such a kinematics and control systems and embedded programming experience would also be beneficial.

Software Engineer Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as a point of contact for information regarding design activities within software
  • Communicate progress and requirements to relevant stakeholders
  • Software development
  • Produce and maintain detailed specifications, objectives and requirements documentation throughout the development life cycle
  • Produce detailed designs to meet project/ task requirement
  • Validate design performance, requirements and system integration through testing
  • Provide significant technical input into all aspects of design work, providing technical advice to managers
  • Ensure an optimised solution is developed to support continuous improvement
  • Ensure attention to detail, rectification of design errors is considered when engaged in design work
  • Fully implement all changes to process, methodology, environment and practice within the department in a positive support manner
  • Handle difficult tasks or assignments
  • Advise of developments within the software team

Software Engineer Qualifications and Experience required

  • Degree level education or relevant knowledge through work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Software Engineering
  • Experience of working with Robotics and real time communication
  • Experience of Sensors, motion control and cameras
  • Must have Python and C/ C++ experience
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, using own initiative
  • Strong prioritisation skills with ability to manage competing demands
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate verbally, written and via presentation according to the audience
