The candidate will serve as the Data & AI Risk Second Line of Defense by participating in the independent risk oversight and control activities as well as in the risk assessment, measurement and reporting activities.The candidate will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data risk reporting and oversight and will be expected to learn internal processes and procedures and work proactively and collaboratively with the rest of the team and relevant stakeholders to help the team deliver on the priority commitments and Enterprise Data & AI Risk Program objectives.What you'll do in this role?Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledgeParticipate in the execution of the periodical and ad-hoc reporting to the Board, CRO, Risk Committees, including collection of metrics and creation of dashboards and reports Execute the assigned New Initiatives Risk Assessments (NIRA), Risk Rating Assessments, Risk Control AssessmentsSupport maintenance of the Data & AI Risk Governance and Oversight documentation (frameworks, policies, procedure manuals, assessment, testing and reporting templates)Support the roll-out of the Data & AI Risk Roadmap and associated activities in the assigned North American and/or International Scotiabank business unit(s), and/or subsidiariesExecute and assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls developed and implemented by the first line of defense in the assigned area of oversight. This includes: (1) assessing first line of defense's level of compliance with minimum standards set forth in the relevant policy(ies); (2) reporting of identified gaps with respect to first line of defense controls; and (3) tracking of associated corrective actions designed to close the identified gapsDocument assessment and review findings and conduct analysis of the remediation plans in a timely mannerLiaise with the assigned Domains, Working Groups, Business Lines and partners (e.g. VP's, Directors, Data Architects, Senior Managers, etc.) or relevant committees in support of the assigned controls or metrics assessments/reviews/testing/reporting upon management's requestProvide guidance to the first line of defense on the design and best practices of effective Data & AI Risk controls and Data & AI Risk metricsExpected to be well versed in the Bank's risk related frameworks, policies and standardsExpected to incorporate the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisionsExpected to have a high-performance attitude, foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment, and prioritize team's goalsWhat we're looking for?Post-Secondary education completed.
