Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining the Grange Insurance Middleware Enterprise platform. This includes design, configuration, back-up, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring critical events and documentation.What You'll Be Doing:Serves as Middleware administrator for enterprise applications by: Analyze and develop technology solutions based on customer requirements.Build and implement middleware products to meet business demands.Work with Developers and Architects in developing middleware configurations based on requirements.Provide technical expertise for complex technical production issues related to Contact Technology applications running in Mixed Operating System, Private and Public Cloud solutions environmentsParticipate in the creation of requirements for automation, monitoring, diagnostic, simulation and other tools to maintain, enhance and/or restore servicesIdentify and apply innovative technologies to update existing middleware.Create and maintain documentation for middleware installations, changes and upgrades.Train Junior Engineers on middleware updates and new installations.Coordinate with vendors and support team on problem resolution, design issues and upgrades.Perform troubleshooting, incident response, and patching in a timely manner.Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in timely and accurate manner to improve application performance and functionality.Develop and implement strategies for migration, consolidation and upgrade of middleware components.Evaluate system architecture and make recommendations as required.Develop and implement standard processes for installation, maintenance and enhancement of middleware applications.Analysis and development of enhancements to meet changing user requirementsExecution of change control procedures to ensure all enhancements, upgrades and patches are thoroughly tested and planned before implementation in the production environmentMaintaining all related technical documentation; where applicable, developing and communicating company policies and proceduresRegularly solicit feedback and Hosted Applications requirements from customers and end-users Serves as IT technical expert for new business application initiatives by:Design technical solutions for clients as part of a larger team in a timely and effective manner, hits project milestones and key deliverable datesServing as the expert in implementations review/install patches; recommending solutions to support and enhance our existing systemsAssisting in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for internal development projectsIdentifying opportunities and implementing solutions to improve business processes and productivityWhat You'll Bring To The Company:Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience.6 - 10 years' experience in administering IIS, .NET, Websphere, Node JS, Apache, Tomcat and cloud native instances, Active MQ and IBM MQExpert knowledge and understanding of technologies related to infrastructure engineeringAbility to identify, report, and solution problems in new and existing software in a team environmentAbility to identify and correct system capacity issuesAbility to help remediate tough technical support issuesIn-depth technical solution knowledge, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and problem solvingExperience troubleshooting environments across the entire architecture (i.e. applications to infrastructure)Experience utilizing PowerShell, Bash, Perl, or Python to automate complex manual tasksKnowledge and understanding of lifecycle management, including implementation, maintenance, patching, health checks, capacity planning, and decommissioningKnowledge and understanding of AppDynamicsFundamental understanding of the following concepts: J2EE, Secure Sockets Layers, Secure Certificates, Load Balancing, Application / JVM Tuning, and multi-tiered architectures.Must be a team player and comfortable in a large support role.Must have strong Customer Service disciplines and excellent communications skills in order to support and maintain "24x7" uptime for Enterprise web applications.Ability to use operational metrics to support continuous improvementProven problem solving and analytical competencies.Expert knowledge with Change, Incident and Problem ManagementAbout Us:Grange Insurance Company, with $3 billion in assets and more than $1.3 billion in annual revenue, is an insurance provider founded in 1935 and based in Columbus, Ohio.
