Responsibilities
The Sr. Infrastructure Architect leads the creation of the overall application, data, cloud, and systems infrastructure blueprints & standards. This position must have a broad view of the entire organization as it will be responsible for driving infrastructure strategy as well as interfacing with all levels of IT and leadership. They will work in a team environment developing enterprise IT technology strategy and providing a technology vision aligned to changing business priorities through thought leadership, processes, structure and value delivery. This position is leadership without any direct reports. The Sr. Infrastructure Architect will have dotted line (indirect) management responsibility to other architects within the Enterprise Computing team.
Ideal candidate will have architected medium to large scale environments that utilizel servers, virtualization, cloud, networking, storage, Windows, Linux, endpoint, mobile devices, and data center solutions experience. Must have had hands on practical experience in multiple infrastructure technologies and experience building cost effective solutions to day-to-day problems modeling with ROI & TCO. The Sr. Infrastructure Architect will also have to work within large cross functional technical project teams as the lead technical resource as well as the primary point of contact for other technical resources outside in other towers. Assists senior management in the development, maintenance, and communication of an information infrastructure for organization-wide operations that will create substantial added value for the enterprise. Designs solutions as required to support required work processes and information flows of both projects and operational activities. Evaluates new or enhanced technologies that could improve current systems and support overall corporate goals. Develops complex designs by total current annualized information technology and service expenses of the unit(s) served.
The successful candidate will understand the needs of the business in the short-, medium- and long-term and is able to define an architectural "roadmap" for overall development, while aligning the "roadmap" with business requirements and fostering strategic innovation. They must have excellent understanding of cost vs. value and how technology works in the model. Experience in healthcare or life sciences industry is strongly preferred but not required
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience in-lieu of education will be considered.
Required Minimum Experience: A minimum of twelve (12) years' experience with networking, database, storage (SAN), Servers, Virtualization, Windows/Linux, Public Cloud, Active Director, enterprise monitoring tools, back-up strategies, Data Center operations, endpoints, mobile devices, and server technologies are required. Familiar with architectural artifacts based on one of the architecture frameworks (TOGAF, DoDAF, MODAF, Zachman, and FEAF framework). Healthcare experience is desired.
Required Minimum Certification: N/A
Required Minimum Skills: Infrastructure Architecture experience utilizing the following technologies: Cisco WAN/LAN (Catalyst & Nexus), System Administration (Microsoft preferred, Linux secondary), endpoint hardware/software including significant proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Detailed knowledge of server platform technology (utilizing HP and/or UCS). Experience with SANs (EMC & NetApp), and application/desktop virtualization (Horizion & XenDesktop). Thorough understanding of security standards, knowledge of database products and utilities, comprehensive knowledge of server architectures. Architecture or management/support of Microsoft Azure. Must have had hands on experience performing technical duties within the last 3 years. The individual must be able to communicate and have good team building skills. Self-motivator and strong leadership qualities, multitasking and problem resolution. Ability to discuss & understand general infrastructure technologies in depth as well as having multiple specialities that are within the minimum skills. Computer/data entry experience. Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team. Ability to use EXCEL, Word and have basic computer operational knowledge. Epic and 3M experience preferred.
