Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include real-time troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and maintaining system documentation. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Job Description Provide day-to-day ground system technical support to Air Force customer, supporting the custom Satellite Command and Control (C2) application suite. Maintain the smooth operation of the Milsatcom ground system. Become the Subject Matter Expert on the ground system supporting the Air Force ground engineering group. Learn the ground system hardware and application software, how they interact, and provide technical support to the customer. Investigate and analyze incident summary reports and ground observations to remedy operational problems and provide briefings to the community on the issues, and results of data analysis. Provide technical expertise for anomaly resolution and perform safety-net staffing when complex operations require on-site staffing around-the-clock (24x7) or 1-hour re-call. Staff and support deployed mobile ground stations as needed by the customer. Process ground system archive data and generate reports for community awareness and associated metrics. Perform long-range planning for critical events, such as spacecraft upgrades or payload uploads. Provide hardware, software, and database install support and troubleshooting. Provide post-software install checkout and validation efforts. Support launch and early orbit operations as well as Inter-segment test and On-orbit test activities. Coordinate changes for real-time operations with Air Force Mission Commander and other government sub-contractors. Provide updates to crew checklists, technical orders, job aids and day-to-day procedures for Air Force operators. Maintain a lessons learned tool, including coordinating with the user terminal team. Create trending data for the operational C2 ground system by maintaining data reduction tools and performing analysis for metrics generation. Provide engineering simulator development and support by creating and updating procedures, initial condition files, and scenarios. Provide knowledge retention for ground C2 system creatingupdating procedures, updating job aids and crew information files and maintaining lessons learned document. Provide pre-ops review board analysis for our Air Force customer leadership. Attend and support customer organized working groups and planning meetings (coordination meetings and discrepancy review boards). Provide coordination with ground user terminal community and other Technical Advisers at Schriever AFB. Provide hardware and systems support to Air Force and Lockheed Martin customers supporting custom written Satellite Command and Control (C2) and Mission Planning hardware suite. Become the Initial Response Specialist on the C2 Application Suite including the following platforms Sun (Solaris 11, SPARC and x86) Servers, RAID arrays and Workstations, Windows (7, 10, Advanced Server) PCs, CISCO switches, and third party associated equipment. Incumbent will be expected to rapidly learn the hardware, operating systems and basics on applications, how the systems interact, provide support to Military and Non-Government customers. Incumbent will be expected to be on travel approximately 10 of the time each year. Upon completion of initial training familiarization, incumbent will have the following primary job responsibilities bull Work seamlessly with other members of the team to provide Subject Mater Expertise SME and Depot Level sustainment of the system. bull Seventy-five 75 minute response time to Mission Commander and staff while on call, operating as a Subject Mater Expertise SME. bull Additional technical support is available as needed and required. bull Continually contribute to the System Administration (SA) documentation keeping all systems up to date. bull Support the SA Staff with work reports on all jobs, system metrics and activity documentation. Required ExperienceQualifications bull 5 years of related operations support work in a real-time environment. bull Minimum of five years of UNIXLinux System Administration. bull DoD 8570 Certification (Security +). Required Skills bull Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively with corporate teammates, government customers, and other organizations outside Lockheed Martin. bull Ability to quickly learn new, complex systems and become the subject matter expert with moderate training. bull Ability to work effectively with corporate teammates and Government customers. bull Strong organizational and written communication skills. bull Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills. bull Able to precisely follow implicit instruction and procedures. bull Ability to work equally alone and in a team environment. bull Understanding of basic networking, TCPIP, NFS, command line, scripting. bull Strong Hardware and Software Troubleshooting skills. bull Ability to quickly learn new, complex systems and become the expert in first line response. bull Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation. bull Ability to correctly and accurately complete work documents. Desired ExperienceQualifications bull Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. bull Typical Minimums Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experiencecombined education, with 5 years of professional experience or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree. Considered career, or journey, level. bull Cyber Security (CS) and Information Assurance (IA) subject matter expertise. bull Three years SysAdmin experience on SPARC andor x86 SunSolaris 11 or newer Operating Environment. bull One year experience with Windows Administration. bull SysAdmin experience with AIX, Red Hat Operating Systems. bull Experience with Microsoft Office products. bull CISCO switchrouter administration. bull SQL or Oracle DBA Skills. Desired skills bull Knowledge of Milsatcom programs and C2 systems. Familiarity with Milsatcom or Advanced EHF operations and operations at VAFB. bull Familiarity with user terminal operations and users. Good understanding of basic networking, Windows, Unix, and Office. bull Knowledge of hardware supply chain processes and software. bull Familiarity with Satellite Operations.
