We are looking for an enthusiastic RF Engineer in Basingstoke who can work alongside engineers of other disciplines to contribute to overall system design, perform validation and test of our client's ground stations.

The Role
Our client designs, manufactures, installs and maintains a range of high-tech bespoke industrial equipment, largely made up of a range satellite communication ground stations.

As RF Systems and Test Engineer, you will have the opportunity to travel to various sites around the world, assembling and commissioning systems. Managing your own time whilst travelling, you will take a lead role in delivering the system to the customer and obtaining their sign off.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the production and commissioning teams, delivering timely and accurate RF engineering support and test documentation performing test and commissioning at a system level
  • Based on project requirements, supporting the RF engineering team to specify components and assemblies as part of the overall design
  • Liaising with other departments - particularly RF design engineers - to develop and test RF products that will be manufactured in-house rather than purchased
  • Working with other members of the engineering department to generate test plans to validate the products
  • Perform testing of RF products and ground stations
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Provide technical support to the production teams
  • Assist with manufacture and test of RF components, particularly providing technical support to production during manufacture of new product

About You
The ideal RF Systems and Test Engineer will have or be:

  • HNC/HND or degree qualified in Electrical or RF Engineering or similar field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Ability to specify RF equipment such as LNAs, frequency converters, power amplifiers, couplers etc
  • Knowledge of operation of RF test equipment such as Spectrum Analysers, VNAs, power meters etc
  • Understanding of RF levels, gains, losses and the ability to perform cascade analyses and level budgets
  • A practical mindset that can be applied to technical problem solving, gaining understanding and characterising of RF equipment and troubleshooting
  • Ability to develop skills within a fast-paced R&D environment
  • Experience and a genuine passion for a job within the field of RF, space and satellite communications
  • Flexible to travel - must hold full clean Driving Licence and Passport

For the role of RF Systems and Test Engineer, there is a salary on offer circa 45,000 to 50,000 per annum, depending upon experience
