Research Scientist (f/m/d) Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence

Full-time and permanent
Perform research with a focus on high dimensional data processing, overseeing related big-data workflows and contribute significantly to the complex assessment of scientific data
Contribute to the generation of workflows and guidance towards the application of multivariate data analysis (e.g. cell painting) and artificial intelligence tools in high content imaging and drug discovery - this includes the machine learning based characterization of cellular phenotypes derived from patient iPSC and analysis of treatment effects for mode of action prediction
Support the interpretation and mining of imaging related data as part of high content imaging for target validation, assay development and screening projects to understand the pathology of various diseases
Provide expert knowledge to plan and conduct experiments, develop image and data analysis strategies and procedures, and perform statistical interpretation within multi-disciplinary project teams
Embedded in a global imaging and analysis environment, you show excellent data visualization, presentation and communication skills to strengthen the overall portfolio of commonly applied methodologies within the grou

PhD in Biophysics, Bioinformatics or related fields
Work experience in the field of image analysis and artificial intelligence development
Sound understanding of and work experience in cell biology & immunofluorescence staining, automated image analysis, advanced data analysis methods for biostatistics, multivariate data analysis and machine learning techniques including related big data handling and mining methods
Programming skills in the python scripting language and deep understanding of scientific data analysis packages (e.g. numpy, pandas, scipy, scikit-learn, pytorch, keras/tensorflow) are required
Ideally, you are familiar with data generated beyond imaging (e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics) and have a clear understand of the related experimental and biological processes
Concise analytical reasoning coupled with a practical, pragmatic yet flexible and creative development and troubleshooting approach is highly beneficial
You are driven by curiosity, love science and enjoy working in teams of diverse scientific and cultural background
Excellent communication skills across different disciplines
