What's The Job?

As our Principal Data Engineer you will be building our bespoke Data platform that will serve our entire organizations digital properties. You will be managing massive amounts of Big Data using Big Data techniques such as Spark. We use Kafka for Data streaming, and are fully embracing AWS native services. The Data Pipelines you build will allow all downstream stakeholders to pull the clean data they need effectively. Your work will allow our advertising partners to achieve their greatest ROI and impact our company on a global scale.


As a Principal Data Engineer you will also mentor more junior Data Engineers on the team, which will be a great learning experience if people management is something you want in your future career growth. You will report directly to the Senior Director of Data Engineering, and be part of a team that is looking to double in size in the next 12 months as the company is investing primarily in our technology teams.

We are headquartered in NYC, but are open to our technologists working remotely or coming into the office on a hybrid model (2 days a week). As a company, we are responsible for some of the most loved and cherished brands that entertain all demographics, and are continually pushing the envelop to stay at the forefront of our industry. Our properties include TV, streaming, movies & theme parks.


What Skills Do You Need?

  • A Computer Science degree is a MUST.
  • Ideally experience using Scala on the backend, but are open to all languages (Java, C++, Python). We want good engineers first and foremost.
  • You have utilized Big Data tools previously like Spark, and Kafka for Data streaming.
  • Experience building platforms on top of Docker and Kubernetes is a real plus for us.
  • Cloud experience is needed, we have transitioned to AWS and using most of their native services at this point (but any cloud experience is acceptable).


Compensation:

  • $160,000 - $190,000 Base Salary (dependent on experience).

  • Ability to work fully remote or on a hybrid model (2 days a week in office).
