Platform Infrastructure Engineer (Finance)Best Buy is transforming its cloud and infrastructure platforms to deliver a customer-focused, product-based, self-service experience. As a Platform Operations Engineer, you'll join a team building, maintaining, and automating critical systems while working in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for an engineer with experience building and managing complex infrastructure leveraging automation tools to ensure consistency across the environment. With an "automate everything" mindset, the ideal candidate will have a mix of engineering and operations skills and is just as comfortable managing a Linux server as they are debugging application code. They will work closely with Best Buy application teams while being part of a broader team of technology professionals creating robust technology solutions that deliver real business value to Best Buy. Key position responsibilities include: Engineering & Operations Provides level 3 support for business-critical systems. Performs complex incident and change management activities. Leverage automation for the delivery of on-premises infrastructure in a traditional VMware, Linux, and SAN/NAS environment Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned technologies. Ensure that the technologies and architecture are up-to-date, stable, and compliant, meeting enterprise and security standards. Proactively monitor and report performance and utilization of assigned technologies. Troubleshoot software and/or hardware issues & failures. Maintain a high level of operational readiness through highly available and redundant designs Collaborate, communicate and work across various geographies and time zones Participate in a rotating on-call schedule Automation Automate the installation, configuration, operation, and monitoring of systems using a variety of open-source tools Work with infrastructure provisioning tools such as Chef, Vagrant, and Test-Kitchen. Develop scripts leveraging technologies such as Chef, Ansible, and custom-built management tools Perform zero-downtime deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes across multiple globally distributed locations Minimum Qualifications: 4 or more years of experience managing Linux and Windows servers 1 or more years of experience working with virtualization platforms such as VMWare 1 or more years of experience using automation and configuration management tools such as Chef, Ansible, and Puppet Preferred Qualifications: Solid Git and scripting skills (e.g. shell scripts, Python, Perl, Ruby, Powershell) Experience configuring and managing applications including Tomcat, Apache web server, Kafka, MQ Experience with networking including load balancers (F5) and firewalls Experience leveraging development pipelines, DevOps philosophies and working with infrastructure-as-code Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Filebeat, Metricbeat, and monitoring tools like Kibana, Grafana, and Splunk Experience with public and hybrid cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure, GCP, and AWS A clear understanding of cloud services provided by major vendors and experience integrating private and public clouds
