Senior System Engineer - Berkshire, UK
Main purpose of role
The SSE is a senior role within the Professional Services team. As a Senior Professional Services Solution Engineer, you will support project delivery from the initial “Kick Off” through final “Go Live” milestones, as well as post-project implementation support. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of a project per the scope and objectives documented in the Statement of Work.
He/she works side by side with assigned PM(s) to ensure that a project is delivered from technical position as per the stated scope specification and quality. Engaged from the initial “Kick Off” through final “Go Live” milestones, as well as post-project implementation support. Accountable for the successful delivery of technical components for the project per the scope and objectives documented in the Statement of Work.
Key Role Responsibilities
Assumes overall technical leadership role and responsibility for software and services delivery to one or more customer delivery projects.
Engages with customer(s) to identify and define solutions to needs.
Works and co-ordinates technical aspects of the project(s) across internal and external 3rd party deliveries, e.g AWS, Consultancy services, Support team.
Ensure that software deployment, software configuration and integration, software acceptance services and any other type of professional services including training courses are delivered on quality
Responsible for overall solution architecture designs and low level integration designs of the software product including south- and northbound integration, software configuration and customisation.
Day-to-Day coordination of Systems Engineers involved in customer delivery projects and provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for junior systems engineers securing efficient services delivery and usage of power tools and instrumentation/productivity tools
Contribute to and approve interface software requirements specifications for different equipment vendors, ensuring that file formats and parsing problems, import keys, managed object class models, and general data modelling is accurate and in line with the requirements.
Works with software product line and software development as expert beta tester and ensure full software feature capability knowledge
Day to Day management responsibilities for SE(s) assigned to the project, providing guidance and direction, whilst the line management of those individuals resides elsewhere.
Must have Skills
Excellent interpersonal relationship building and customer facing skills
Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Proven software implementation experience with commercially available OSS Service Assurance systems for telecommunication operators. Such systems include Nokia-Siemens GR and SPOTSs, Ericsson ENIQ, Huawei PRS, Cisco WEM, ALU NPO and SDC, IBM Metrica/TNPM, Aircom Optima, Netcool, Temip etc.
Software system integration testing exposure and software acceptance methodologies are required.
Exposure to Cloud technologies, Openstack/Openshift, configuration and management of VMs, APIs, Containers
General UNIX administration knowledge, power tools, shell / perl scripting, and SQL clients
Dedicated knowledge of telecommunication operator related performance management key performance indicators and data analysis and reporting methods
Fluent in English
Front-end GUI usage experience is an advantage.
