The Manager, Infrastructure Architecture is responsible for infrastructure and operations architecture services across DTO. This includes Corporate IT and Utility Operations Technology (OT). Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining Digitals infrastructure strategy, product roadmaps, new technology assessments, and lifecycle management. Infrastructure Architecture technology scope includes on premise compute, cloud computing, network, storage, database, end user computing, collaboration, middleware, and telecommunications.
Lead a team of technical architects, creating an environment of trust, open dialogue, creative thinking and team cohesiveness, setting high standards of team and individual performance, aiding in the development of individual contributors, and providing clarity and alignment on strategic vision and business initiatives.
Align and collaborate closely with application development, cyber security, enterprise architecture, finance, Digital strategy, and business operations teams.
Design and execute the vision and strategy of the DTO Highly Available (HA) infrastructure and network roadmaps.
Ensure DTO engineering and architecture services are continuously improving, optimized, and aligned to the strategic goals and objectives of Digital, and DTO.
Establish architectural vision & roadmaps by collaborating with the enterprise architecture team, business stakeholders, analysts and technical staff to craft a shared vision of the infrastructure future state, while employing standards and practices to provide a secure, innovative and cost-effective environment.
Guide the development of reference architectures and technology roadmaps and helping migrate from Legacy to modern technologies with an eye on reducing technical debt using solid lifecycle management principles.
Guide the evaluation of new strategic technologies and emerging standards, from an enterprise infrastructure perspective, that fit future needs as well as establish processes that govern selection, prototyping and adoption of different technologies.
Guide the technical, solution and system owners that are part of the DTO organization as well as provide direction to the various development, customer, and business groups on infrastructure and security technology standards while ensuring that applications, infrastructure and security needs are architected for total scalability and performance.
Build a Community of Practice for infrastructure teams while leveraging architectural tools, processes, and practices.
Consult on major initiatives to guide key design decisions and may be called in to help identify solutions to complex technical and business problems as well.
Partner with other enterprise architects to build the architecture practice across the Infrastructure organization.
Bachelors degree required from an accredited college or university, preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or business.
10+ years of IT experience, with at least 8 years with infrastructure architecture and at least 6 years of experience in large scale technology architecture definition.
5+ years of experience in developing architecture road maps, reference architectures, and evangelizing adoption of architecture principles in the design and delivery of technology solutions.
Enterprise experience designing and implementing enterprise large scale server platforms using physical Servers or virtualization capabilities; VMWare specifically required for virtualization, Linux/Unix/Microsoft Server OS experience required
Extensive technical knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN), networks components (LAN/WAN), network security and technologies
Strong understanding of cloud architectures (IaaS, PaaS, private/public, hybrid), Containers (Docker, Kubernetes), Database clusters (Oracle), Application clusters (Apache Tomcat, IIS), hyper-converged infrastructure (VXRail, VXRack, vBlock) etc.
Strong understanding of wireless technologies such as LTE, Digital Microwave, Radio Frequency (RF) propagation, and Spectrum Usage, as well as a strong understanding of fiber technologies such as MPLS, DWDM, and GPON technologies.
Strong understanding of end user computing platforms such as MS O365, MS InTune, MS SCCM, MS Active Directory, MS Azure AD, VMware Horizon, VMware WorkspaceONE
Understanding of infrastructure automation and continuous configuration automation tools and processes (VRealize Automation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
Strong understanding of Software Defined Data Center (SDDC), Software Defined Networking and all other components
Strong understanding of Cloud technologies and principles
Extensive experience in HA/DR design, deployment strategies, and principles
