About the department
You will be part of the department Business Operations & Portfolio Management, consisting of 6 engaged colleagues. The focus of the department is facilitating ground breaking scientific research, by providing proactive support and strategic IT management across the site. You will work closely with the Research IT Manager and the management as well as with the IT infrastructure- and cloud engineers in the Global Research Solutions (GRS) team anchored in Denmark. Through IT we enable and ensure the underlying scientific needs of NNRCO by providing and developing a state-of-the-art computational environment combined to support Big Data efforts with best in class data management.This role will play an important 'hands on role' in securing the future IT landscape that we will operate in locally and globally in collaboration with your colleagues.
As an infrastructure/cloud Engineer you will enable key services and through dialogue enhance solutions in close collaboration with our Computational Biology and Genetics teams as some of your key stakeholders.Through the focus on Linux administration you will enable the Computational Biology and Genetics departments on both High-Performance Computing (HPC)/cloud/local infrastructure solutions as well as in package/software management and advice. You will also take part in key infrastructure projects, as they arise.
Moreover, you will be responsible for ensuring proper conversion of scientific requirements into Computational and IT needs, and document new processes and equipment within NNRCO's existing infrastructure.
Collaboration and alignment with the global organisation is key to succeed in this role, and your work will extend to an international stage where you will work closely with and take part in global infrastructure projects, ensuring adhesion to the Novo Nordisk IT Standards and security requirements. In addition, you will work closely with our Global IT organisation cloud architects to deliver solutions and services with a global impact. This may lead to other projects in Novo Nordisk based outside of NNRCO.
Lastly, you will be expected to provide specialist input or use cases alongside the Research IT Manager and management team to represent NNRCO infrastructure and IT need.
You have an educational/professional background in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar as well as solid experience working with Linux and HPC administration and technologies.
Moreover, you have proven academic/industry experience with some, but not necessarily all, of the following:
•Cloud platforms e.g. Amazon, Azure, or similar
•Computational biology support
•experience and understanding of research data and data sets

Therefore, we expect that you are a strong communicator who can translate complex technical requirements - also to those who may not work or function in a technical capacity.
