Our client is a leading trusted partner to the betting industry. Our specialist IT teams are responsible for the management and support of all of our IT infrastructure that powers our operation and supplies our customers.

The Infrastructure Engineer role is a critical role within the Technology organisation and manages all aspects of IT including traditional on-premise infrastructure and storage, cloud infrastructure, networks and End User Computing (EUC). The role undertakes technical project work as well as responding to support calls that are escalated by the service desk. The role is also on-call one week in four.

The role reports to the Head of IT and works alongside our Engineering and Distribution, Architecture and Software Delivery teams. The role is based in Milton Keynes but will occasionally be required to travel to one of our other major sites from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

In line with the company values, the main responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer are set out below.

  • Supports in the generation and validation of product ideas and ensure alignment of the architecture strategy to product strategy and roadmaps.
  • Work collaboratively with client and partner organisations to produce mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Support the investigation and evaluation of new technologies and solutions, plus assessment of competitor offerings.
  • Supports as a member of the Technical Design Authority reviewing and approving solution architecture proposals for new products and systems.
  • Ensure full documentation is produced as part of any technical solution.

Knowledge/Experience and Pre-requisites

  • Can demonstrate a passion for Tier 1 technology providers such as Microsoft, Cisco, Checkpoint and F5.
  • Have experience of supporting and troubleshooting complex issues, working alone, that also can include bespoke applications and middleware.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Building engagement with senior stakeholders, explaining technical IT issues
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the IT marketplace and trends within end user organisations processing large amounts of data and multimedia content.
