This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the university's digital success as the Head of Infrastructure at the University of Stirling. This critical role combines your IT infrastructure knowledge and infrastructure strategy development with the key elements of team leadership. This role acts as a bridge between technology and the business of Information Services, and the university. A key element of this role is the design and development of an Infrastructure Strategy and your contribution to a wider Information Services strategy. Key elements of future strategies may include:
Using your infrastructure expertise and knowledge, you will oversee a range IT projects from start to finish and act as a vital link between managers and teams of infrastructure specialists and developers making a key contribution to the university IT strategy and direction. You will be an excellent people manager and have the ability to motivate and develop your teams to be sector leading, innovative and customer focused. You will build on current capability to ensure the university has IT infrastructure which is efficient, resilient, and secured; in line with relevant sector standards and organisational policies.
You will have a strong background of core data centre, cloud and networking technologies with a focus on understanding the key attributes and the use of some or all of the following:
• Hyper V;• Microsoft Azure;• VMware;• vSphere;• AWS;• Storage systems;• Cisco software defined networking;• Cisco Security;• Cisco VPN;• Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking;• Experience with either service provider or enterprise IP networks;• WAN technologies;• Routing Protocols.
