POLITICO is looking for an Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer with dedication and drive to implement positive change. You will be responsible for supporting existing highly available infrastructure in a cloud-centric environment while recommending and implementing strategic cloud migrations and learning new technologies. In this position, you will work hand in hand with development team, DevOps engineers, enterprise systems, Help Desk and network engineering resources and will be a valued technical support partner in AWS. You will be a subject matter expert for all things cloud automation and a mento r to junior team-members and be efficient and effective in problem management. This position is uniquely defined to allow for creative problem solving, implementation of new technologies, and drive strategy. Job Requirements:

What you'll do

  • Build and operate infrastructure systems and architecture using (including but not limited to) Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes on AWS
  • Establish and enforce best practices around security, scalability, and service orientation within your team, and software development teams
  • Build and document frameworks within Terraform to enable software developers to innovate independently
  • Maintain and operate systems running on a variety of AWS constructs (EC2, EKS, Lambda, etc.) managed Terraform and Helm
  • Maintain and evolve monitoring and notification systems
  • Create and sustain documentation on new services, procedures, and requirements
  • Participate in an on-call schedule established by your manager, and be ready and available while on-call to immediately diagnose and resolve incidents
  • Engage in the diagnosis and resolution of escalated critical incidents
  • Participate in security and compliance audits of systems and infrastructure
  • Perform ad hoc responsibilities as needed

What you'll need

  • Experience working with Terraform Cloud for 2+ years
  • Experience operating Kubernetes environments for 2+ years
  • Linux / Unix system administration skills, 3-5 years operations experience
  • Practice with RabbitMQ, ElasticSearch and Redis
  • Experience with monitoring and metrics systems (i.e. Grafana, Splunk, Datadog)
  • Comfortable with configuration management systems (i.e. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Helm)
  • Strong scripting skills (i.e. shell scripts, Ruby, Python, Bash)
  • Strong time and project management skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks
  • Ease working with multiple cloud hosting providers, and extensive experience with AWS
