On behalf of our client, we are looking for somebody who is highly dynamic, with an entrepreneurial and creative flair who is ready to take a new channel to the next level and to help it hit its next million views.

This role is a full-time (40-hour week), home-based, permanent position. The person appointed will work usual office hours, and be available during those hours on the company’s Skype account.

The editor/writer must have knowledge of the telecommunications industry and digital services. They will report to Senior Editorial Director, and work closely with all members of the Research & Content team, as well as with colleagues across the organization. This is a busy and varied role with plenty of scope for the right individual to develop.

The company’s current annual portfolio includes 17 webinars, 23 research reports (varying in length from 3,000 to 12,000 words), 36 newsletters (three per month) and an annual magazine, as well as a rapidly growing channel which attracts over 22,000 unique visitors a month as well as 120,000 page visits. The channel has just reached a landmark in its development with over a 1 million page views in a year.

The responsibilities for the Editor role include:
Manage and contribute to the online news portal, including soliciting regular contributions from the company’s subject matter experts – this could mean interviewing them, with support from editorial, and writing up the interview where appropriate/most helpful
Contribute regular original blogs and articles, with support from editorial
Monitor and analyze online traffic & data and readership stats regularly to recognize patterns, anomalies and make recommendations to improve the performance of the online editorial content and digital digests
Ensure to get maximum value from all the publishing efforts, e.g. repurposing, re-using and promoting content
Manage a rolling editorial online content calendar
Ensure publications have a consistently high-standard online presence
Work productively with marketing to actively and aggressively grow company’s online audience
Work with web development to continue to ensure that the channel meets all requirements
editing, tagging and uploading material for the channel
commissioning work from freelancers
frequent liaison with colleagues across the organization to ensure accuracy of information about the company’s activities and assets
working with an external design team
adhering to deadlines, and ensuring that contributors do too as designated editor of specific reports and addressing queries with the author
prepared to travel up to 4 weeks a year to attend in-house events as well as various external events, and those of third parties on occasion, to work on daily newsletters, write-ups, blogs, infographics, podcasts, videos and other digital content, as directed
promoting the channel and reports via social media
Required skills
knowledge of the telecommunications industry and an understanding of the importance of digital services across other sectors
excellent, accurate writing skills, the ability to turn copy round quickly and write arresting headlines
a sharp eye for detail and accuracy
a team player with excellent communications skills – the team is all home-based and on two continents. Also, this is a cross-functional job, requiring frequent communication with colleagues from all parts of the organization, external designers and interviewees for written material and podcasts
adept at using Microsoft Office
adept at using social media channels
adaptable and flexible
Desirable skills
A good working knowledge of InDesign
experience producing podcasts
experience conducting video interviews
