Position at CNO Financial Group, Inc.
The Director of Infrastructure Architecture is a people leader role that is responsible directing and managing multiple technology domains of commonly group technologies. Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Infrastructure and/or the Chief Technology officer the role will be primarily responsible for aligning domain strategies to IT and Business capabilities. The role will be responsible for managing and overseeing moderately large Infrastructure technology investments. Moreover, the role will oversee multiple external vendor partnerships, establish contracts ensuring CNO's interests are protected, and balance responsibilities for reducing technical debt and system complexity with the need for speed to market and competitive delivery costs.
Leads, builds, and maintains a team of direct reports that can sustain commonly group technologies and multiple domains.
Develops talent and creates opportunity for succession planning, successful advancement of team members.
Accountable for the integrity of key human resource processes including, salary reviews, hiring and performance management.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with business and IT leadership team members and participates in the development of the infrastructure strategy to support key business areas of CNO.
Identify avenues for continuous improvement for services within scope of responsibility, including new approaches and processes and the eventual retirement and replacement of systems and processes that have reached the end of cost effective functionality.
Directs and oversees the strategic plans and road maps for infrastructure programs that have moderately high dollar investments ($1 to $5 million dollars), high risk (provide critical business functionality), and moderate to high complexity (may connect to multiple systems inside and outside CNO).
Drive the evaluation, development and actualization of Infrastructure solution architecture standards within all designs and configuration of hardware and software Infrastructure technologies. This includes ensuring that effective reviews and governance processes are in place and executed.
Oversees the quality of external teams and deliverables provided by sourcing partners, ensuring CNO is receiving appropriate value for fees paid to sourcing partners.
Ensures sourcing partner for Statements of Work and Work Orders are complete, and that external vendors implement a program of continuous improvement on behalf of CNO.
Develops IT policy and procedures that support a scalable and secure IT environment.
Ensure compliance and understanding of Core Processes that support: Demand Management, Sourcing contracts, Service Level Agreements, Sox Compliance, Internal Audit, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, System Development Life Cycle, and Vendor Management.
Develops budget(s) for scope of responsibility, including Program Budgets to support annual planning process.
Accountable for performance against financial objectives and monitoring and reporting on budgets and variances within own area to ensure financial objectives are met.
Develop and maintain appropriate CBAs for programs where investment exceeds $500,000.
Key Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Deep knowledge of multiple technology domains with expert knowledge in one or more domains.
In-depth working knowledge of business and technology, and ability to remain current with emerging industry and technology trends.
Strong ability to coach and lead team members on functional assignments.
Proven experience in Infrastructure architecture, medium-scale system design and development experience Strong analytic and conceptual skills.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, or related computing major required, or equivalent experience. Master's preferred.
Typically, a minimum of ten years of experience in two or more of the following: Network Management, Server Management, Storage Management, Solution Architecture, Database Management, Middleware Management, End User Computing Management, Messaging Systems Management, IT Consulting, Channel Vendor Management, Managed Service/Offshore
At least five years of experience leading large programs or teams of people in a business or IT Area (ie budges exceeding $1M)
At least two years of experience in leading teams or programs in multiple areas.
