Kforce has a client that is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer in Herndon, VA. Summary: As the Cyber Security Engineer you will provide recommendations, create documentation and revise documentation and guidance for standards and policies. The orchestration of vulnerability management practices in all stages of system and application security will be the primary focus. While ensuring vulnerability remediation activities align with enterprise risk management strategy, the candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills. Written and verbal collaboration with stakeholders on vulnerability standards and technical working groups will be a critical skill for presenting innovative solutions to the client.

Job Requirements:


  • 5-7+ years' experience creating, revising and updating Information Technology Standards and Policies
  • Strong background in the following NIST Special Publications: 800-137 (& 137A), SP 800-128, SP 800-40, SP 800-39
  • Strategic planning skill that improve Vulnerability Management (VM) programs within large / complex environments
  • Comprehensive understanding of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) methodologies
  • Ability to assess and categorize a vulnerabilities impact on Enterprise assets by implementing a risk scoring system
  • Experience with engineering, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of systems, networks and information
  • Ability to identify how controls are implemented and the knowledge to shape standards.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and enterprise remediation efforts
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office
  • Lead and engage team of teams (internal / client) and ability to forge relationships across multiple stakeholder groups to mature VM
  • Able to multi-task, work as part of a team, share workloads, and deal with sudden shifts in project priorities as well as provide technical guidance to the team
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, proactive in nature with customer satisfaction as primary goal
