Associate Director- IT Infrastructure & Operations

Aetea has been asked by their valued client, a leading Pharmaceutical company, to assist with their need for a Senior Manager/Associate Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations. client and the team you'll be working in are great and offer positive challenges in a dynamic environment.

To give you an idea of what you will be doing and the team you will be doing it with, here's the high level overview:

  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the I&O staff
  • Incorporate operational excellence standards into daily operations to continually improve performance
  • Establish and drive a strong collaborative and customer service mindset
  • Maintain high levels of availability, performance, and scalability of infrastructure operations, and hardware.
  • Implement and maintain IT asset management systems
  • Establish, maintain, and regularly test disaster recovery / business continuity plans and processes
  • Hands-on design, implementation, management and support of critical network and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Ensure cost-effective delivery of IT services and be able to respond with agility to changing business priorities
  • Manage infrastructure with a service provider mindset to ensure high service levels to business users for connectivity and computing resources
  • Work with IT leadership to identify, develop, and drive long-term strategies and initiatives that streamline the IT business model
  • Evaluate IT infrastructure and identify technology solutions to improve security, scalability, and reliability of the overall computing environment
  • Hire and evaluate I&O staff, both employees and contingent workers
  • Lead root-cause analysis of service interruptions and implement corrective actions
  • Effectively manage external service providers and IT services agreements
  • Implement automation to improve service levels and network resiliency
  • Lead execution of the company's cloud-computing strategy, with particular focus on Microsoft Online Services (Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive for Business)
  • Manage the organization's disaster recovery program to ensure data integrity
  • Ensure personnel and infrastructure are in compliance with external FDA & SOX regulations


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of industry certifications and work experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years working in IT, preferably for a Life Sciences company
  • Highly organized, results-oriented, and attentive to details
  • Good negotiation, mediation, and influencing skills
  • Analytical, solution orientation and delivery focused
  • Self-motivated, proactive, independent and responsive
  • Good verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation and diplomacy skills
  • Solid understanding of IT service management and IT project lifecycle and project management methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of IT governance and regulatory requirements (GxP) as they impact a vaccine manufacturer in a Biopharmaceutical company
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization, including executive presentations
  • Demonstrated history of building and maintaining effective teams as well as successfully leading and driving strategic change in complex, fast-moving organizations
  • Expertise with networking technologies (Cisco, Dell, Palo Alto)
  • Expertise with Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Exchange, Windows O/S, Office/Office 365)
  • Desktop (PC & Mac) management processes and automation tools
  • Enterprise management of Hyper-V environments and virtual machines
  • Email and end-point security products (Carbon Black, Mimecast, etc.)
  • Enterprise backup and recovery systems (Commvault)
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues
  • Experience in IT operational planning, enterprise roll-outs, and deployment of global IT solutions
  • Deep experience troubleshooting network-related issues, including switches, routers, firewalls, access points, printers, and other devices
  • Experience in Active Directory, Group Policy, DFS, DHCP and DNS
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools to maintain maximum availability of IT services
