Dept Marketing Statement This is a position within the Smarter Balanced division of the University of California Santa Cruz Extension. Smarter Balanced is a member led organization of states and territories that collaborate to provide formative, interim and summative assessment resources (e.g. tools, items, tests, etc.) that help educators better prepare their students to be college and career ready after they leave high school. We serve new college graduates needing practical skills people in the workforce looking to update skills or change direction lifelong learners interested in studying with industry experts in the heart of Silicon Valley K-12 students and educators by providing access to high quality curriculum and assessments that are aligned to rigorous standards Position Summary Involves providing a variety of IT services. Assignments may include database administration, application programming, IT project management, systems administration, systems and process analysis, security, solution development and maintenance, business technical support or a combination of these and or other IT functions. Oversees the cloud-based infrastructure for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. Serves as primary analyst for designated web and enterprise-scale applications which may include load balancing, single sign-on, web, and database components. Includes responsibility for application deployment, maintenance, security, and incident-response. Ensures that systems are highly available, secure, and have appropriate capacity. Having significant experience, applies advanced data information management concepts and consortium objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analyses of situations, information or data require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods and techniques to obtain desired results. Pay, Benefits, Work Schedule Salary Information 98,000 - 140,000 Annually. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. No. of Positions 1 Benefits Level Eligibility Full Schedule Information Full-time 100 weekly 40 hours weekly Mon-Fri Day Shift Employee Classification Career Appointment Job End Date None Work Location Remote Union Representation None Job Duties 50 - Cloud Engineering Independently manages systems and services for a large facility comprising multiple, highly integrated systems and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new compute solutions Architects program to comprehensively address security issues Continually and proactively scans portfolio for security vulnerabilities designs and implements solutions for eliminating known security vulnerabilities Architects systems for high availability Continually and proactively monitors all systems for availability and performance Coordinates regular and comprehensive load tests Works with developers to architect and implement auto-scaling systems. 25 - Enterprise Architecture Designs, develops, modifies, debugs, deploys and evaluates highly complex software and scripts. Initiates, analyzes, designs and applies highly complex data sources. Plans and directs key activities in release management process. Oversees process and develops standards for migration of software from test to production. 25 - Technical Leadership Initiates, designs or modifies highly complex systems, processes and procedures where standardized policies or procedures may not exist. Creates highly technical specifications for systems with broad impact within a large organization. Performs highly complex analysis of unit and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system and process requirement specifications. Researches, recommends and designs large and complex organization-wide adoptions, deployments and technology transitions. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area and or equivalent experience training. In-depth knowledge of various areas of IT, including Unix, Windows, Networking, Security, AWS, SSOSAML, Databases, SMTPSPFDMARCDKIM, DNS. Familiarity with cloud architecture including AWS, Ansible, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Microservices, XMLJSONYAML, RabbitMQ, git, NextCloud, Tomcat, Nagios, Node.js. Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution. Knowledge necessary to design, set up, operate and correct malfunctions involving technology systems. Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent related functions. Experience in data integration and the specification of data services. Technical skill to develop, implement and test disaster recovery functions using cloud architecture and backup technologies. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to represent relevant information in abstract models. Critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
