Beacon Hill Technologies is currently searching for a WiFi Engineer for a client located in Cleveland, Ohio. This is a 6 month contract to hire.

Summary: Monitor, manage, and support client's WLAN and LAN environment on site for client. Serve as onsite technical wireless engineering expert.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the configuration and support of wireless controllers, access points, Switches and Routers which make up client's WLAN and LAN.
  • Travel to customer facilities performing heat mapping and validating RF signals and correct coverage for client devices.
  • Work with client personnel to troubleshoot, repair, or replace faulty equipment at locations throughout the area in support of the WLAN.
  • Interface with customers while on site and provide detailed feedback to other internal teams about customer expectations and requirements related to LAN and WLAN.
  • Work in collaboration with other team members to implement best practice changes, security upgrades, and configuration improvements to facilitate ongoing network improvement.
  • Maintain keen and up-to-date knowledge of Wi-Fi protocol, authentication, and encryption standards as well as RF design, as those protocols evolve and change over time
  • Act as subject matter expert for Cisco wireless controllers, Aironet access points, Cisco ISE, and Cisco Switches and Routers.
  • Apply knowledge, skills and experience to make and implement recommendations for continuous improvement of customer's environment.
  • Work closely with other team members including other wireless engineers, contractors, field operations, network engineering, and program manager to ensure ongoing effective operation of the LAN and WLAN deployed at client facilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • This position requires five or more years working within the IEEE 802.11 WiFi industry with active participation in configuration, site survey, troubleshooting and implementation of a broad range of projects in scope and size.
  • Experience with support and implementation of Cisco wireless hardware and management via Cisco ISE required.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA) certification is required.
  • Certified Wireless Network Administrator(CWNA) certification is preferred.
